Understanding the Critical Role of Your Engine's Head Gasket

The head gasket is arguably the most vital seal in your entire vehicle, serving as the critical barrier between the engine block and the cylinder head. In a high-performance engine, this component must simultaneously manage three distinct tasks: sealing the intense pressure of the combustion chambers, containing high-pressure engine oil, and directing the flow of liquid coolant. Because it sits at the intersection of these three systems, it is subjected to more thermal and mechanical stress than any other gasket.
